Background & education

Traian is an ambitious young adult with an unquenchable desire to help change the world for the better. He is most fascinated about Physics and Astrophysics and wishes to share this passion with others.

Traian was born in 2004, in the city of Baia Mare, Romania, and has been pursuing science ever since he was 7. He was educated and spent his childhood in his home town, later continuing his studies

His primary academic focus is Physics, especially Quantum Physics, as he aims to contribute develop quantum technologies and implement them in everyday society.

Academic activity & scientific interests

Traian is a multiple international medalist in Physics and Astrophysics and has gained considerable recognition for his activity.

His interest started with a keen eye for Mathematics. A bit further on, he discovered Physics, and Astronomy followed soon after that. He put a lot of effort into deepening his knowledge in these particular fields, as it dawned on him that the future of our civilization depends on them.

In Traian's perspective, the most relevant purpose in life is helping other people and he believes that together we can shape our imperfect world the way we always dreamed of it to be.

He is always looking for opportunities to share his view and insight, hopefully attracting others towards this common goal.

Community involvement

Traian is aware that any daring endeavor takes a lot of collective work. Consequently, he is actively involved in the community, cooperating with others across many areas of activity.

He was the founding president of the volunteering organization Interact Abstract Club of Baia Mare, carrying numerous humanitarian, cultural and ecological projects alongside his team.

He also took initiative and built up the EDISON community, aimed at entrepreneurial education and digital alphabetization among his peers.

Traian was repeatedly invited to hold speeches in his community, being a speaker at TEDx and other similar events.

Projects

Over the course of his high school years, Traian continuously challenged himself by attempting various social and scientific projects, in order to help bring science mainstream.

His book "PSALMS OF HORROR" is centered around the issue of the apocalypse. Traian provides the readers with an overarching view of the possible doomsday scenarios, and analyzes the scientific reasoning behind each and every one of them.

He launched a course on Spherical Astronomy, introducing learners from all around the globe to the main concepts of the cosmos.

Traian got involved into a research project, studying the properties of supermassive black holes with respect to the electromagnetic jets they emit.

FAQ

  • How did your passion begin?

Everything began with a book I read at the age of 7 about World Records explained for children. I was blown away by some of those, especially the ones related to stars, galaxies and the cosmos in general. After that, I began reading more and more about Astronomy and fell in love with it, eventually discovering Physics and Astrophysics as sciences. The rest is history...

  • How do you find time for everything?

I always like staying busy. As such, there isn't that much time to find. But when I need to focus on something, I think it's best to prioritize and make time for it, even though it implies cutting from the time I would spend on other things. TL;DR you don't find time, you make time!

  • What sparks your motivation?

The wish to make things better - I think to myself that through my efforts, I could make the world a better place and contribute to our development as a civilization! No matter how far-fetched that might seem, I strongly believe it and it always motivates me.

  • What is one concept that fascinates you most?

Quantum entanglement has boggled scientists for decades - no wonder it fascinates me. In spite of it seeming counter-intuitive at first glance, this ability of particles to somehow "communicate" over large spatial expanses has been lately proven experimentally, giving rise to novel technologies such as quantum encryption, communication, computing, radars and many others.

  • Why did you chose to write a book about the Apocalypse?

I must admit that, as a child, I was often bombarded with macabre thoughts about the end of days. However, this inherent fear of my younger self made me delve deep into what the Apocalypse really means and how it obeys scientific principles. Seeing how people were generally unaware of this rational reasoning and thus terrified whenever a piece of apocalyptic news came about, I was determined to try to convey my research and findings to the public, in an easily understandable manner.

  • What is your favorite book?

That's easy! It's got to be "Physics of the Impossible" by Michio Kaku. This book revolves around technologies that we deem impossible as of now, but which have a complex scientific basis and may become viable in the future. A real game changer!

  • What is your favorite movie?

On a quite similar note, my favorite movie is "Minority Report" - it is about how precognition has been implemented for crime solving in a futuristic society and how it's surreal implications change the course of reality.

  • What advice do you have for aspiring students?

Don't be afraid - be curious! People are afraid of what they can't comprehend and they are probably most afraid of failure. But stay strong, focus on what matters to you and things will turn out just fine. Because even if the world doesn't always give you its best, you can always give it your best.
